A one-minute test is useful for a warm-up. Five minutes gives you more time to settle into a rhythm. Use 10 or 15 minutes when practising concentration. Compare results with the same language and duration; an early finish is labelled separately in your history.
Match capital letters, spaces and punctuation. Backspace is available for practice, and corrected mistakes remain part of the accuracy calculation. If a missing character makes the following text appear wrong, fix the earlier omission before continuing.
WPM is based on correctly matched characters, using five characters per standard word. Check accuracy, errors left and corrected errors alongside speed. A brief burst or pasted paragraph does not show dependable typing performance. See the formula and WPM calculator.
Try one minute slowly, one five-minute timed test, and a few minutes revisiting the words you missed. Repeat a comparable test on another day. Your latest 20 results stay in this browser, so use the same device to review your progress.
This short original exercise is for careful copying. The timed test above uses longer passages and gives you a new one when you choose New passage.
Before submitting a form, read every entry once more. Check the spelling of each name, the order of the dates, and the spaces between words. A clear record saves time for the next person who uses it. Work at a steady pace, correct mistakes carefully, and finish one task before beginning another.
Choose a goal suited to your work or examination, then aim to sustain it with accuracy across a full test. The goals in this tool are practice settings. For an exam, use its recruiting body's notice rather than treating a generic WPM number as a pass mark.
